Proverbs 22:28 Remove not the ancient landmark which your fathers set up (NAB)
Ironically, the proverb commonly quoted to critique Vatican II’s adaptations to meet the demands of modern times can now be used in its defense. What this website argues is that Vatican II did not break with tradition. In fact, since the last 3 Popes and vast majority of all bishops have been explicitly pro Vatican II it is becoming harder to argue that its contents are not part of the ordinary magisterium of the church in its teaching authority. Thus, large parts (all) of its contents are guarded against error by that very fact. Vatican II did not make any dogmatic pronouncements extraordinarily because its contents were (or have become) part of the ordinary magisterium of the church and so guarded by the Holy Spirit from error. What this website seeks is to humbly learn from what God has given the modern world through dialogue and prayer. Since, 3 Popes after the council have supported it as the pastoral approach to meet the world’s demands we can say that it is now the ancient landmark which should not be moved indiscreetly except by those whom the authority has been given. It is important to differentiate the council from other cultural trends which have affected modern society.

Fr. Peter Damian Fehlner from AirMaria.com defends Vatican II. He shows its benefits and urges us to interpret it within tradition in light of reform avoiding modernist and traditionalist extremes. https://airmaria.com/2011/01/04/video-variety-107-in-defense-of-vatican-ii-part-1/

Commentary and In the News
Cardinal Zen sees Vatican II as a light for today. https://oldyosef.hkdavc.com/?p=1503 “Vatican II happened 50 years ago, but it surely doesn’t belong to the past, its light still leads the Church through the darkness of her journey today.“
You may have heard about Archbishop’s Vigano’s recent statements on Vatican II. I have deep respect for Archbishop Vigano for all the great work that he has accomplished. He is truly a Catholic man of purpose. Yet, I think we have to be careful about his recent views on Vatican II. I link an excellent article by Dr. Jeff Mirus which makes us remember that we should not claim ultimate authority for our personal favorite bishop when they don’t have the same teaching authority as Peter. It should be remembered that lots of other great bishops like John Paul II promoted and supported Vatican II, so we should not get carried away when a few other noble bishops hold different opinions. Let’s dialogue and think before you jump on the do away with Vatican II train of thought. https://www.catholicculture.org/commentary/archbishop-vigans-comments-on-vatican-ii/?repos=6&subrepos=0&searchid=2027734
Food For Thought
“19. It is not surprising, therefore, that many scholars, both priests and laymen, led especially by the desire that the unchanged and unchangeable teaching of the Church should meet new demands and needs more effectively, have zealously undertaken to develop, with the Church as their guide and teacher, a social and economic science in accord with the conditions of our time.” Quadragesimo Anno by Pope Pius XI. He saw pre Vatican II the need to reaffirm, clarify and update according to the changing times Leo XIII’s Rerum Novarum. Not all change in continuity with the faith is bad.
(I do respect other opinions, I myself get things wrong. I hope these can be taken in a gesture of good will if you disagree with the contents.) Consider these pictorial arguments. I am not making light of opposing views as if they were uneducated. This is just some fun.
