The Basic Idea – The Website’s Thesis

Ironically, the proverb commonly quoted to critique Vatican II’s adaptations to meet the demands of modern times can now be used in its defense. What this website argues is that Vatican II did not break with tradition. In fact, since the last 3 Popes and vast majority of all bishops have been explicitly pro Vatican II it is (always has been since beginning) part of the Ordinary and Universal Magisterium of the church as an ecumenical council in its teaching authority. Thus, its contents (all parts) are guarded against grave error by that very fact even in its non-infallible teachings. Vatican II did not make any dogmatic pronouncements extraordinarily because its contents are part of the Ordinary and Universal Magisterium of the church in line with previous generations and so guarded by the Holy Spirit from error. What this website seeks is to humbly learn from what God has given the modern world through dialogue and prayer. Since, 3 Popes after the council have supported it as the pastoral approach to meet the world’s demands we can say that it is now the ancient landmark which should not be moved indiscreetly except by those whom the authority has been given.
Are texts with titles like – Dogmatic Constitution on the Church, Lumen Gentium – Dogmatic Constitution on Divine Revelation, Dei Verbum —- Pastoral? No, they would not be Dogmatic then but Pastoral Constitutions.
Read Point 22 in the Syllabus of Errors! The following point is in error. “22. The obligation by which Catholic teachers and authors are strictly bound is confined to those things only which are proposed to universal belief as dogmas of faith by the infallible judgment of the Church.—Letter to the Archbishop of Munich, “Tuas libenter,” Dec. 21, 1863.” — You can’t only accept extraordinary teaching but must also accept ordinary teaching, which all ecumenical council fall under, even the pastoral ones of the medieval ages and Vatican II with religious submission. Even though religious submission is different than the assent of faith it is still gravely serious.

This one is a food for thought piece. Pope Pius VI condemned the following proposition as heretical.
I. The proposition that “in recent centuries there has been a general obscuration on the most important truths of religion and that they are the basis of the faith and morality of the doctrine of Jesus Christ” -Heretical. Bolla Auctorem fidei (Roma, 28 agosto 1794) (vatican.va)
If someone every tries to tell you that holiness is not accessible in the Church unless it radically changes its ways and you have to shun almost everything that is currently practiced – think of the above quote.

The Statue was Mary with Christ in her womb – no idol worship. The latter Vatican remark about it not being Mary has been misquoted. Read above Pope Pius XII said that even teaching in encyclicals that are not infallible and ex-cathedra teachings still demand consent. How much so for ecumenical councils! Even pre-Vatican Popes knew and recognized that teaching even in the ordinary sense must be adhered too, because he who hears the Pope hears Christ.
